Armed conflicts disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities. Yet, their specific needs and rights have historically been underrepresented in the discourse of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). This paper examines the intersections between IHL and the international human rights framework governing the protection of persons with disabilities during armed conflict. It explores how instruments such as the Geneva Conventions, Additional Protocols, and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) converge to ensure dignity, non-discrimination, and inclusion in humanitarian response and post-conflict recovery. The paper argues for a harmonized interpretation of IHL and human rights law to enhance accountability and practical protection for persons with disabilities in conflict zones.
